Most common error how to use Can & May

It sound really simple but yet its a little confusing while we use this to words

Can and may

This is the most common error, we usually make and get confused with while using it.


As you can see in the

image CAN is used to show or ask capability or express ability of one.

For example 

Can she play piano?

Here it means asking about one's capability 

Never say 

Can i go to bathroom ?

Its wrong should say may i it means you are asking permission here. you should always say 

May i go to Bathroom?

here you are asking permission

MAY is used to ask permission or in case where you want to express possibility 

Some example for MAY

May i please go to play?

here you are asking permission

May i please use your book?

here you are asking permission

.

I may attend the meeting today.

It means its a possibility that you may or may not

Can i come inside?

which one do you think is right?

May i come inside is correct as here you are asking permission to enter the room

I may play chess.

I can play chess.
